Chad's Challenges

Hello Challenge!

Date:

ROLL 101 has the vision of raising funds to assist young people affected by chronic or terminal illness or by catastrophic injuries. The main method of generating these funds will be a series of ‘Chad’s Challenges’ over the next few years. The first of these will take place in August this year and will involve Chad taking on a gruelling 4 week, 4800 kilometre off road crossing of the continent from Kalgoorlie in WA to Cobar in NSW. Chad is scheduled to begin the challenge on August 19 and arrival in Cobar is predicted to be September 12.

A 1000cc buggy has been re-engineered by Peter Graham to provide modified controls, instruments and seating for Chad. He has been clocking up the hours in his buggy in preparation for the trip. This arduous challenge will also require a high level of fitness so Chad can cope with the estimated average of 250 kilometres a day across some of Australia’s toughest terrain. In preparation for this Chad has been attending the World GYM in Penrith since June 2013 - 3 personal training sessions per week, working on strength and endurance.  This and driving his buggy as often as possible will be his training regime right up to his departure date.

Chad will be assisted by a 12 person support crew of family and friends for the 4 week challenge. Four 4 wheel drive vehicles with trailers carrying spare parts, camping gear, safety equipment, food, water and fuel will provide the necessary support for Chad.

This ‘Challenge’ will attract widespread media coverage, including national television networks, radio and magazine. Social media such as YouTube, Face book, Twitter and others will also be utilised to update everyone on Chad’s progress and to generate significant market exposure for our sponsor partners throughout the event.

This will be the first of a number of challenges that Chad is planning to generate funds for ROLL 101.
Likely future challenges for Chad include:
  • Water ski the ‘Bridge to Bridge water Ski Classic’ on a modified water ski - The annual Bridge to Bridge Ski Race is one of the longest running and most prestigious ski racing events in the Southern Hemisphere
  • Travel offroad from Adelaide to Darwin – over 3000 kilometres through the heart of Australia
